"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

only here....only here...

Wednesday in my Shakespeare class, my {hilarious} professor recounted an excellent story about a production of Macbeth he once saw at the Globe theater. For those of you who don't know, the Globe is an open air theater; meaning there is no roof.

The story goes as follows:
"Remember Lady Macbeth's speech about wanting to be a man? 'Unsex me now!' yada, yada, yada, 'something about bashing in babies' heads if she doesn't get her way' . . . Well, right as she was shrieking all of this at the sky, lightning cracks right above her head. She was channeling the other side, and not the part of the other side we wanted her to channel. Not exactly your Relief Society President we're talking about here."

Only at BYU will you find a professor comparing Lady Macbeth to your Relief Society President.
Does anyone else find that as amusing as I do?
