That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

brrrrrrrr......

It's really cold here today. I mean, really cold. The high here today is thirty-seven degrees with a wind chill of thirty-three degrees, but I swear it feels like it's in the twenty's outside. It's been trying to snow all day - little spurts and flurries, but nothing serious. The ground is still devoid of all crystallized water. I can't get warm, so I'm piling on the layers and huddling under blankets. I'm blaming my inability to maintain a pleasant body temperature on dragging myself out of my incredibly warm bed and going outside way too early this morning. So as I sit here trying my hardest to not turn into a frozen version of myself, please send some warm weather vibes out my way. I'm planning on getting a Caramel Apple Spice from Starbucks on my way home from work this afternoon. It's the most delicious apple cider drink on the planet, I'm convinced.

In other news: I'm going home for Thanksgiving in exactly one week and five and a half days.
(which also means that I need to start drafting all of my research papers)

(and the other part is that you're from the south and if you're like me- cold weather isn't your thing)
