"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

english is best

I love my major and I'm a Modernist + Postmodernist at heart. Yes, I am an English dork, and I'm not even trying to hide it. Ready to see how much of a dork I am? Here you go:

1. I can name most of Shakespeare's plays.
2. I read Plath, O'Connor, and Dostoevsky for fun.
3. I find correct grammar exciting.
4. I love my Postmodern American Literature class.
5. I can explain postmodern literary theories to you.
6. I actually like writing essays, and no, I'm not lying.
7. Proofreading essays is fun too.
8. I know what the "Man from Porlock" is, and why it's so funny.
9. I know what an oxford comma is.
and
10. I found a true rhyme for the word 'purple'.
"curple" - look it up; yes, it's a real word

Your grandma Izzy loves English so much that she typed a paper for me from my hand written original. She made no, nada, zilch corrections as she typed. I crashed and burned in a big way and learned to do my own work better.
