That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

22 November 2009

this just gives me chills

Yes, I am aware it is November. Yes, I am aware that the cycling season doesn't officially start for another couple of months, but this video is simply the best. It's the last few, final minutes of the 2009 Tour de France. I feel the need to do another shout out to my favorite sport in the whole wide world. Now before you roll your eyes at me, groaning, and saying "Oh, geez, not another cycling video..." hear me out, and then watch it. This video is all about Mark Cavendish: a.k.a. the Usain Bolt of the cycling world. There is nobody who can sprint faster than Cavendish can. At the end of this video, he is nearing fifty mph. Yes, that's right: fifty. Just when you think he can't possibly get going any faster, he does. It's incredible. I also sorta-kinda-really-really-really adore how Phil Liggett's voice gets faster and higher as the end of the race nears; he's just so excited, and it's infectious. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
