"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

sometimes it's nice to spend the whole day with someone whose company you really enjoy

Today I had a wonderful friend to spend the whole day with, and we:

:: had grits and muffins for breakfast
:: watched General Conference and visited
:: shared some marvelous inside jokes {"hold onto the beam"; "that lousy sod"; "uh oh. they're happy. they must be talking about someone dying"; "it's like Much Ado...you know what happens when they run and clap"'; "see...he actually helped his grandma"}
:: hatched a plan that was executed perfectly
:: sent the most hilarious text of the day: "Well, God being a God of love and all, I think we'll be good."
:: i got a really great back massage
:: watched The Lion King
:: ate steak + potatoes for dinner
:: had an excellent wrestling match for my cell phone
:: got tickled until i couldn't breathe
:: and then got a really relaxing head massage

Quotes of the week:
"Hey, remember that one time?"
+
"Well, what do you think?"

"Soul! GREAT DAY!" That pretty much sums up an entire day of awesome. You are one splendid friend Alyssa! :D
P.S. While grits are great the Southern way, I still like my grits sweet too! Maybe it's just the lack of pig fat(?)

Sounds like a fabulous day. Although I just got grossed out by the sacrilegious applying of "sweet" to the grittage mix in the above comment. *shivers*
