"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

we were voted "best booth" because we had the most pride for our culture

Tonight my church had a "Culture Night" activity. People from/who served missions in various countries set up booths and gave a five-ish minute presentation about the culture in their respective countries. We had everything from Finland to Colombia, the Philippines to Brazil . . .
and then you had Will and me.

Somewhere, someone along the way decided that the South is a country, and never quite made it back into the Union. So, alas, me being from South Carolina and Will being from Alabama, we set up a booth all about that glorious land we call home.

We set up our booth complete with Southern food {banana pudding, biscuits, barbecue, white sauce +bread}, a Bonnie Blue flag, Southern books, pictures of the Southland, etc. We even had the greats blasting from an iHome. . . Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Allman Brothers . . .

My favorite part other than all of that, was the quiz we put together about the South. See how many of these you can answer right; answers will be posted on Sunday.
