"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

i'm back. for today, that is.

dear life,
i wish you were less like this + this, and more like this, or this.

dear professor burton,
it is immensely cool that your first name is gideon . . . and that you give us assignments to turn in . . . on facebook.

dear shakespeare,
why does the book of your complete works have to be so freaking huge? my back would have really appreciated it if you hadn't written so much.

dear new clothes,
welcome to my life. i hope you like living with me.

dear chocolate,
i love that you {especially when combined with gilmore girls} can make me feel better.

dear boy i'd rather not talk to right now,
why is it that when i wanted to randomly run into you i never did, but the second that i would rather hurl myself off of a cliff than randomly bump into you, is the time when i see you practically everywhere i go? why? someone please tell me why.

dear appetite,
i think it's about time for you to come back. this is beginning to approach the realm of seriously not good.

dear friends,
thank you for everything y'all do. thank you + you for letting me come over at 11-something o'clock sunday night to cry. thank you for having a girls night sleepover with me and thanks for the cookies. thank you for bringing ice cream + sparkling cider. thank you for getting me chocolate. thank you for coming to check on me, and bringing me sad songs to listen to. thank you for supporting my somewhat rash plan {that i didn't go through with} to throw my shakespeare book at one said individual's head.

xoxo
A.

p.s. professor burton: i know you told us in class not to throw our shakespeare books at anyone/thing, but i felt like this was a worthy cause even if it never happened.

I love you! I believe I might have chucked Shakespeare's complete works at you know who. Well I'd have wanted to anyway. I'm grateful to all your friends too. Bless you girls!
