That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

you know you might spend too much time at the pool...

when you see kids running anywhere and your first instinct is to tell them to walk.
when you dream about not being able to blow your whistle correctly.
when you dream about anything pool related, for that matter.
when being in the hot sun for hours on end doesn't bother you.
when you feel weird going out sans your whistle and fanny pack.
when you have multiple bruises and abrasions from riding the slides.
when you always, always smell like sunscreen.
when you have horrid tan lines from your guard suit.
when safety-checks are the highlight of your day.
when you have no problem whatsoever blasting your whistle and yelling at someone through a megaphone.
when cleaning up messes of varying degrees and dealing with bleeding children doesn't phase you at all.

and

when you realize that you feel more comfortable dressed like this:
all that being said, i love my job. it's pretty great.

I can't wait to hear you yelling at random kids to walk.
