"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

it's the weekend; time to celebrate

I read this post by one of my favorite people,
and loved it so much that I just had to do one for myself.

{thanks, E, for the lovely idea}

1. see: These videos, and get excited. The countdown to the biggest excitement
{at least in my opinion} of the whole summer is down to only a week. So much love.

2. hear: Chess in Concert. Read this post of mine for the who's who and what's what. Some personal favorite selections are: "Nobody's Side," "Heaven Help My Heart," "Anthem," "The Deal (No Deal)," "Pity the Child #2," "I Know Him So Well," and "Anthem (Reprise)". It is so beautifully crafted, and the performances are divine.

3. touch: The grass. If you're not allergic, go find a grassy hill and roll down it. Nothing is much happier than playing in the grass on a warm, sunny day. {make sure you take people with you to share the joy}

4. taste: Minute Maid Pomegranate Lemonade. It is delicious. Practically perfection in a jug.

5. smell: The rain. Next time it rains, wherever you may be, step outside and breathe deeply. There are not many smells as refreshing and soothing as that of falling rain.

I'm going to have to try that Pomegranate Lemonade. That sounds fabulous.
