"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

i am serious, and don't call me shirley

:: We had a ward talent show tonight. Now this would be a somewhat normal experience if it was done by anyone other than the BYU 6th Ward. I think that being certifiably insane is one of those unwritten prerequisites to be included in this ward....

:: Here's a few of the highlights from the evening...

:: Ronnie's parody of "Hotel California" entitled "Hotel Campus Plaza" all about the quirks of living here.

:: Tim's evil henchmen routine. Best quote: "Rory's stache is a defense mechanism because the ladies will never fall for him".
:: Don as the mad scientist/human calculator. Where he got the goggles, we're not sure.
:: Carin's neonatal sounds. Extremely disturbing. End of story.
:: Christian's Disney World Safari montage. The variety of voices was rather impressive, but somehow the slide-show of animal pictures wasn't quite the same as the real thing.
:: The singing of "Scatter Sunshine" in a minor key while in shrouds.
:: Peter's impeccable impression of a raindrop.
:: And Petey's dirge-like song about being happy that reminded me of "The Alto's Lament" in a sense.
:: Matt McClanahan. Duck caller extraordinaire. Or should we say Duck caller in need of a straight jacket? Amongst the 10 or so different duck calls, he played part of a song on one, played another call by blowing into it with his nose, and even shook his tail feathers while quacking.
:: Then Matt did what he called a "feeding chuckle". During this feeding chuckle, Lauren leaned over and said, "I'm strangely attracted to that".
:: E. and I broke into practically uncontrollable laughter.

:: I feared for my life and sanity the entire 3 hours.

:: N201 ran out of matches today. The Apocalypse is near. Very, very near.

Wow! What a show! I'm thinking they should have called it the Untalent show. JK. but... uh...

I very much enjoyed out little chat. Have fun tomorrow.

(Here's my snarky aside comment: I'm going to suggest here that you take off the word verification. Since we all have to be invited. I don't think you really need it.)
