I would like to take this opportunity to recommend this book to anyone who has not had the privilege to read it, or in my case, listen to it.This amazing little gem of a book had me cackling for all 128 pages.Faithful readers of my blog: I give you: The Rumpelstiltskin Problem. Granted, my experience with this book will be unmatched by any other forever more because it was read to me by a most involved and charismatic story teller. Taran's reading of this book was impeccably flawless even after 2 hours of reading! Every inflection, pause, and facial expression was so carefully placed, that nothing but raucous throngs of laughter ensued. I whole-heartedly second my roommate Elizabeth's notion that we appoint Taran as the "Official Bard of the Realm".
This book is unlike any other. It is a retelling of the story of Rumpelstiltskin,
and could not be any funnier.
The book begins with an absolutely side-splitting intro/review of the flaws of the beloved fairy tale,
then proceeds with 6 renditions of the story; each one funnier than the last.
Please, stop whatever you are doing, go get this book and get Taran to read it to you
(granting that he is available and that you know who he is)
But if not, get your friends together and read it out loud.
You will be in for a rare, literary treat!
