I can't even begin to describe how fantastic this novel is. Everything about its characters and story lines is pure perfection. Morrison's prose is impeccable. Beloved is the story of newly-freed slaves who struggle with their past when Beloved returns from the dead to seek revenge on her mother for the life she was not allowed to live. Favorite part: the Afro-Mystic undercurrents throughout the text.
Everything about Paradise is equally as amazing as Morrison's other works. Here, she presents the stories of the people in Ruby, all the while giving a discourse on race, and the relationships between men and women. Favorite part: The Love Sermon.
The Road is the struggle of a father and son in the post-apocalyptic world. It is a story of postmodern redemption and the bond between a father and a son. McCarthy's unique writing style lends itself to these themes, and ultimately parallels the setting and the situations in the novel. Favorite part: The ending. {if i tell you more, it will give it all away, and that wouldn't be any fun}
Fugitive Pieces is an extremely unique book in that Michaels writes in an almost poetry-prose style. It is the story of a young boy amidst World War II; it's a story of love and healing and finding yourself.
It is absolutely gorgeous.
There is no writable topic not included in Crime and Punishment. It is a beautiful story that forces you to reexamine how you view people and their behaviors. It is a triumph.

Interesting list. I adored Crime and Punishment. I'm conflicted about The Road. There were things I loved about it and things I didn't. The story is great though ad I loved the ending. I'll have to try out Fugitive Pieces. It sounds like something I would enjoy.
