"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

day four: bad habits

When it comes to waking up early, I struggle. I mean, I really struggle. I can do it if I absolutely must, but I do not enjoy it. I wish I could train myself to enjoy getting up early and liking it. There's a reason we got married at three o'clock in the afternoon. I needed the chance to sleep in and lounge around the house that morning. There's a reason I cannot attend a class that begins earlier than nine-thirty in the morning. editor's note: even nine-thirty is pushing it a little bit. Perhaps I'll enjoy waking up early when I'm old. But until then, I'm convinced that there's nothing that will make me enjoy waking up earlier than my body naturally wants to.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make waking up more enjoyable?

No. Alas. I have the same problem. I do love the way dawn looks though, so I will get up for that sometimes. Well, right now I get up super early to get E off to seminary, but if I had my druthers, I'd sleep til 9:00 or 10. I don't get my druthers very often. We have had church at 1:30 for the last year or so and I LOVE it.
