The Winter's Tale

This is my favorite moment in all of Shakespeare:

Antigonus just gave a dramatic, emotional monologue, and then this amazing stage direction:

Exit, pursued by a bear

Then a shepherd comes onto the stage, and acts as if nothing out of the ordinary just happened.

Ha! I watched The Winter's Tale at the Utah Shakespearean Festival a couple of years ago and I think I laughed until I cried as Antigonus was first chased and then eaten by a large man in a bear costume. Really Shakespeare??
