That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

my birthday and cats do not mix well.

Allow me to tell you a story. My birthday is in ten days, and I'm worried. Not about my birthday. I love birthdays; they're so happy. I'm worried about my cats, you see. They have a habit of dying right around my birthday. It's happened the past two years. This brings me to today, and a conversation I had with my mom.
It is {more or less} as follow:

mum: so i have something kind of funny to tell you, but kind of not funny seeing as your birthday is so close.
A: (realizing immediately it's about the cats) oh, no; what happened?
mum: well, you see, you need to keep isabelle in your prayers. she's sick.
A: (more panicked now) what happened?!
mum: we took her to the vet yesterday for her immunizations, etc, and she's reacting badly to them.
A: (completely frustrated) no way. not cool. why is it always around my birthday?!?
mum: i don't know. i called the vet and he said that she should be okay, so we're just waiting for a few days to see if she gets better on her own. but so help me, i'm not going to let this cat die.

I had all of these awful flashbacks to a year ago. It was this time, almost exactly to the day, when my mom called to ask me to keep my cat Rhubarb in my prayers. Then, about a week later, I got another call and she had to be put down. It was terrible. I don't want anymore cats to die around my birthday. It sucks.

Isabelle is so young. She's strong. She'll be okay. *sending prayers and positive vibes to Lugoff and Provo*

I can relate to this feeling as I had two cats get hit by cars on two of my birthdays. I hope that your kitty gets back to normal soon--it's probably just a temporary allergic reaction anyways. :-) :-) :-)
