"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

i'm adding to my music library

I have recently been expanding my musical tastes to new horizons. For those of you who know me, I am a staunch advocate for all rock music from the 60s +70s {minus david lee roth, of course} and typically reject all music post- late 80s. Yet, lately I've been getting into some bands that I would have never listened to on my own {mostly because i'm at the mercy of whatever spencer has in his car's cd player} . . . but the music he listens to is actually really good. A lot of the bands have grown on me, and I dare say I even like them. Some of them quite a lot, actually. I've even started a cd exchange in which I take a cd, listen to it, then trade it out for another one. always bands i've never listened to before, of course.

I'm prepared for the gasps and exclamations of shock and awe {that i'm sure will be audible from here} from those of you who know me well . . . so here is a list of the bands/albums I've been listening to lately and loving. Go ahead and start your gasping now.

::: in no particular order :::
Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
Coldplay - Viva La Vida/Prospekt's March
M. Ward - Hold Time
Keane - Under The Iron Sea
Arcade Fire - Funeral
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
Miniature Tigers - Tell It To The Volcano

more albums to come as i hear them. the end for now.

Love it and those groups. Who doesn't love Coldplay? I'm a huge fan of Keane especially. Have you listened to Dashboard Confessional? or The Bravery? If you like those groups, you'll probably like them too.
