That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

"kind of like the dentists, with trident"

Today I had the experience of my day coming full circle. I woke up this morning for work and pulled a Lorelai on my way to work. I threw pancakes into a zip-loc bag, poured syrup into the bag, closed it and shook it up. Remember when she did that in Season Four at Jason's house? After work I headed straight to my Brit Lit final. Mind you it was still before seven a.m. at this point. The final went well; the questions were exactly what I anticipated. And despite the few interruptions from lost students searching for the rooms their finals were in {poor souls} everything went smashingly. After a four-hour nap, I studied, ran some errands, witnessed a drug deal at the mall, and then studied until I couldn't take it anymore. I believe that the stress incurred by finals week has finally caught up with me. I have been an emotional wreck all day; tears have come more than once. I feel like Jerry in "The Chicken Roaster".

I now sit on my couch pulling another Lorelai: I'm eating chips and salsa, watching the Gilmore Girls themselves, and drinking a wicked mocktail* I concocted earlier. I am about to begin working on my Shakespeare final {not exactly a Lorelai thing to do} It's more of a Rory thing, but technically her name is also Lorelai, so I'm still covered.

Is it terribly pathetic that everything in my life most closely relates to fictional characters?
Naw.

*Recipe for Mocktail
