"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

HERES A TITLE!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm just a bit critical, but there are a few things incorporated into peoples' syntax and writing style in recent years that I find very unnecessary. The two main offenders: the overuse of the exclamation point, and typing things in all caps.

"Cut out all these exclamation points. An exclamation point is like laughing at your own joke." - F. Scott Fitzgerald

Exclamation points have been overused to the point of becoming something rather cliche instead of a legitimate punctuation mark. Honestly, nobody needs you to type like this!!! Isn't this just silly?!?!! I hope you feel ridiculous if you do this on a regular basis!!!! Here's a great article about the rise of the exclamation point.

And seriously, people, WHEN YOU TYPE LIKE THIS YOU MAKE A FOOL OF YOURSELF, AND IT SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING EVERYTHING; OR YOU'RE SIMPLY OVER EXUBERANT ABOUT THINGS NOT WORTHY OF SUCH EMPHATIC EXCLAMATION.

I have never used all caps, but I have been guilty of exclamation abuse. My husband lets me know when I needlessly use an exclamation point. He's a writing snob.
