"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

we've got magic to do, just for you.

Today, in particular, I'm yearning for a sudden and swift return to Winter Semester two-thousand and nine. Maybe it's because the season just changed from fall to freezing. I miss the things we did, the adventures we had, the late nights full of nothing short of complete college-life craziness. I miss our conversations teeming with Gilmore Girls references {and the killer mocktails we made; that Marty would be jealous of, I'm sure}. Our lives were comprised of all things lovely and beautiful to be found in Provo, and all the kismet that comes along with it. There was something so magical about that semester. From forts + Angus thongs and sleeping on the couch/love seat with star-shaped ice cubes, to an apartment produced show and an "all-comprehensive, four-page Dating Application for [the] single ladies in s204," ... see what I mean? We had a marvelous time. That semester was nothing short of perfection, and contained so many extraordinary moments to be cherished forever.

As I sit here listening to the music that filled our apartment for those four incredible months, reading the blogs of my roommates gone-by, I can't help but smile and be grateful for the time we spent together. We are all in such different places now. Funny how life does that to you. One is married {two months}, another is engaged {to be married in December}, one is in Indonesia serving the Lord {three months down, fifteen to go}, and another is still in Provo {whom I see on a semi-regular basis}. Kismet brought us all together; the journeys of life separated us; yet the shared memories of that most excellent semester live on in each of us, and keep us connected no matter the distance.
