"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

i'd like one good summer afternoon thunderstorm, please.

Not this horrid, fifty-three degrees Fahrenheit outside,
weak imitation of a storm.

{it's the eleventh of june. i thought it was supposed to be warm}

i'm wearing a sweatshirt, for crying out loud

So maybe, just maybe, if I close my eyes and listen really hard to the sound of the pounding rain and those oh-so-familiar twangy accents of that music from the homeland, then maybe, just maybe, I can pretend I'm there amongst the humidity, the muggy, warm weather, and the spectacular displays of thunder and lightning that those Southern summer afternoon thunderstorms supply.

Yep, we had some of that just this afternoon. We had it yesterday too. It got in the way of our "capture the flag" though. You gotta love those inch and a half raindrop splats on your windshield though.

Every single evening!!!

I guess you have to be "away" to appreciate the South in all its humid splendor.

Yes, yes, it will be like a Southern storm...like "The Storm," in fact...
