"We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language.
That may be the measure of our lives." - Toni Morrison

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born; it's an idea and state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, football, and country music. It’s being hospitable, devoted to front porches, magnolias, moon pies, coca-cola... and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way." - Unknown

they depended on each other, and the world depended on them

"There was a time when the world asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things."

In relation to this post, I'd like to feature yet another person who inspires me:

Major Richard D. Winters

:: If you do not know who this man is, please, I beg of you, go read this book, and then watch this mini-series ::

I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for this man, his men, and everything they did for this country and the world. I have hardly any words that accurately describe my feelings for Dick Winters, except that I am a much better and more grateful person for having read and re-read his story. I have learned so much from his humble example of leadership and strength through trials. I hope that I can live my life in such a way that I can possess merely a fraction of the caliber of his character.
