I started my day today with what is quite possibly the greatest way to start your day.
I was in the presence of, and had the privilege of listening to President Thomas S. Monson, prophet, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Favorite story from his address today:
President Monson told a story about a man who came to himself and, then, President Spencer W. Kimball with a complaint. This man was angry about where his son had been called to serve a mission {the New England area} and insisted they change his son's mission call to somewhere else. Even though President Kimball and, then, Elder Monson told the man that his son had been called by apostles of the Lord, which is the same as being called by the Lord Himself, the man continued his belligerent request to have his son's call changed. When the whole encounter was over, and the son's call was not changed, President Monson remarked that President Kimball turned to him and said "Aren't some parents unusual?" Then President Monson got a big smirk on his face, chuckled, and said to us, "Those aren't the words I would have used, but he wasn't in the Navy like I was".
That's a great story! And a great lesson about callings from the Lord. I needed to hear this tonight. *Ask me later...*
ReplyDeleteHeehee! again! Thanks for the laughs this morning. That's not the way I'd have put it either. I so love Pres. Kimball. And Pres. Monson.
